Job description:
One PhD student position on dark matter theory and phenomenology is available starting in Fall 2016, with duration of 4 years.
This is a joint position between Amsterdam and Paris, in the framework of the project "Self-interacting asymmetric dark matter", funded by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). The project aims at exploring new directions in the theory and phenomenology of dark matter, from a particle physics and astroparticle perspective. Some previous background in theoretical physics and/or cosmology is a plus.
The student will be enrolled in the Ph.D. program of the University of Amsterdam but most of the research will be conducted under the supervision of Dr. Kallia Petraki at the Laboratory of Theoretical and High-Energy Physics (LPTHE), in Paris. The student will have the opportunity to spend time both in Paris, at LPTHE, and in Amsterdam, at Nikhef (the National Institute for Subatomic Physics in the Netherlands). The position involves up to 10% teaching assistantship in Amsterdam, either in English or in Dutch.
Candidates should have obtained a Master in Physics by the starting date. To apply, please follow the link at the bottom of the page. You will need to submit:
1) a curriculum vitae (including a publication list, if applicable),
2) a brief letter of motivation describing your research interests,
3) a transcript of your grades, and
4) the names and email addresses of two referees who will be asked to provide recommendation letters for you.
Applications submitted before 3rd August 2016 will receive full consideration.
