Job description:
The physics department of Chulalongkorn University (Bangkok, Thailand) invites applications for Senior Research Associate and Research Associate/postdoc positions in theoretical high-energy physics. The researchers will be given a considerable amount of freedom in choosing their specific research directions. Possible areas include quantum and classical gravity (including string theory), quantum field theory (including non-perturbative aspects of quantum gauge theories), theoretical cosmology, discrete statistical systems (including random graphs and random geometry), etc. Admitted candidates are expected to conduct research and publish with a high degree of autonomy, while contributing to the intellectual environment at the department via discussions and informal mentoring of research-interested students.

The positions are initially for 1 year, extendable for at least 1 more year. The salaries are highly competitive by the regional standards, and should provide for perfectly comfortable living in the Bangkok area. Some yearly travel allowance will be available.

Chulalongkorn University is a leading educational institution in Thailand, located in the Pathumwan district, the modern center of Bangkok. The physics department is currently building up a research program in theoretical physics, in parallel with its involvement in CERN experiments. Yearly international research workshops on high-energy theory, attended by scholars from all over the world, are organized at the physics department every January. Bangkok is a giant and much-loved tropical global metropolis, combining pockets of posh modernity with traditional, somewhat rustic charm. The city houses numerous opportunities for outstanding dining and entertainment, a highly diverse international community and a renowned sense of the joy-of-life, all of that in a friendly and safe environment.

Interested parties are requested to submit the usual application documents (CV, publications list and a brief research statement) by email to Auttakit Chatrabhuti <dma3ac2@gmail.com> and Oleg Evnin <oleg.evnin@gmail.com> with "research position Chula 2016" in the subject line. Three letters of recommendation should be sent by the referees directly to the same addresses. Applications have to be submitted before June 30, 2016 to ensure full consideration. Late applications may be considered, subject to residual availability of positions.
