Job description:
The Experimental Particle Physics (EPP) group at the University of Sussex is accepting applications for a fully funded studentship available to UK and EU nationals on the ATLAS experiment for a September 2016 start.

Applicants should hold (or expect to hold before the start date) a degree in physics with a strong record in experimental or theoretical particle physics.

The successful applicant will work with an international team led by Sussex to analyze data collected with the ATLAS detector in 2016 and beyond, measuring the coupling strength between the Higgs boson and the top quark using novel jet substructure techniques. They will also be expected to participate in the operation of the ATLAS experiment. Frequent travel to CERN in Geneva will be required, with the possibility of longer periods based at CERN.

Funded studentships cover a tax-free bursary (£14,296 per annum in 2016/17) and home/EU fees for 3.5 years. Additional financial support is provided to cover short-term and long-term travel.
