Job description:
Research Associate position in Experimental Nuclear Astrophysics
The National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL) is seeking highly qualified individuals as post-doctoral fellows in experimental nuclear physics and related instrumentation R&D.
An opportunity is available in the research group of Prof. Artemis Spyrou. The research focuses on Nuclear Astrophysics experiments with fast, stopped and reaccelerated beams using the SuN detector. SuN is a γ-ray calorimeter and is used to measure proton capture reactions directly, to study the properties of β-decay as a means of understanding the structure of neutron-rich nuclei, and to indirectly study neutron-capture reactions far from stability. The position will be focused on the broad experimental program with SuN at NSCL. For more information, please contact Prof. Spyrou at spyrou@nscl.msu.edu
NSCL accepts applications for Research Associates in Experimental Nuclear Science on a continuous basis, and completed applications (see instructions at: http://www.nscl.msu.edu/about/employment/2.html) will be kept active and under consideration for opportunities that might arise for considerable periods of time. For the particular position, applications will be reviewed starting April 18th, 2016 and will continue until the position is filled.
Interested individuals should send a CV and arrange for three letters of reference to be sent directly to:
Prof. Remco Zegers
640 S. Shaw Lane
NSCL, Michigan State University
East Lansing, MI 48824
OR e-mail the documents to zegers@nscl.msu.edu
MSU is committed to achieving excellence through cultural diversity. The university actively encourages applications and/or nominations of women, persons of color, veterans and person with disabilities.
