Job description:
The University of Minnesota High Energy Physics group on the CMS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider seeks an outstanding applicant for a postdoctoral research associate position. The appointment is expected to last for three years, subject to the availability of continued funding and satisfactory performance. The successful applicant will be expected to be based in the Minneapolis-St Paul area, with occasional travel to CERN and Fermilab as needed.

The Minnesota CMS group participates in a wide range of physics analyses, including standard model measurements and searches for exotic particles. Our group has a leadership roles in Phase 1 upgrade of the CMS hadron calorimeter and the Phase 2 Endcap Calorimeter upgrade, which is high-granularity silicon sampling calorimeter with a scintillator-based backing calorimeter. The successful candidate will be expected to take on leading roles in both the physics analysis and the hardware or software work.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in High Energy Particle Physics demonstrating experience in physics analysis, preferably on a colliding beam experiment. Additionally, preference will be given to candidates with experience with the development of detectors or advanced computing.
