Associate Professor (Quantum Gravity and Related Areas)
The Center for Gravitational Physics at Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics (YITP), Kyoto University invites an application for a non-tenured faculty position at the associate professor level in quantum gravity and related areas, which include but not limited to string theory, gauge/gravity correspondence and quantum aspects of black holes.
The Center for Gravitational Physics is scheduled to be founded in April, 2016, at Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics (YITP), Kyoto University, in order to encourage interdisciplinary studies on various aspects of physics related to gravity. Current faculty members at YITP are conducting active researches in a broad range of theoretical physics, including, statistical mechanics, condensed matter theory, quantum information theory, nuclear physics, particle physics, string theory, general relativity and cosmology.
The new faculty member will belong to the Center for Gravitational Physics at YITP and is expected to conduct active research without any teaching duties. The appointment starts from October, 2016 or later and will end in September, 2022. The salary will be determined by the pay scale of Kyoto University. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in physics and are expected to demonstrate an outstanding record of research accomplishment and creativity.
