Job description:
The project is devoted to experimental research on diamond and diamond-like samples containing paramagnetic colour centres. Appropriate optical radiation excites the samples and creates their spin polarization, which is interrogated by microwave and optical spectroscopy.
The project’s aims at development of novel methods of bio-medical imaging based on microwave and optical spectroscopy of colour centers in diamond, hybrid photonic sensors based on microstructured optical fibres and characterization of diamond nanocrystals obtained with the PE MW CVD method.
Particularly encouraged are candidates with experience in laser physics, optical and microwave spectroscopy, optics, photonics, vacuum techniques, etc.
The successful candidate will be a member of the research group led by Prof. Wojciech Gawlik at Marian Smoluchowski Institute of Physics, Jagiellonian University, Krakow. He/she will be involved in the EU ERA NET Rus Plus project DIABASE ("Highly sensitive diamond and carborundum nano-sensors and bio-markers with NIR optical addressability").
The job is initially for 12 months, with perspectives for extension.
