We are seeking a dynamic researcher for a position as research associate for 2 years with the possibility of extension, available from 1 April 2016. This position will be based within the Blackett Laboratory Astrophysics Research Group to work with Pat Scott and Roberto Trotta on searches for dark matter, in particular in the context of gamma-rays, the small scale distribution of dark matter, and possible incorporation into large-scale global fits.  The post holder will be expected to contribute to the Department’s teaching activities up to approximately half a day per week during the academic year, as appropriate.

A PhD or an equivalent level of professional qualifications and experience in theoretical physics, particle physics or astrophysics, together with a strong background in cosmology, astroparticle or particle physics, is essential. Significant coding experience is also essential.

Experience in

would all be advantageous (but not essential).

You must have an enthusiastic approach to research, with strong communication skills and the ability to write clearly and succinctly for scientific publications. A flexible attitude towards work, as well as being open-minded and cooperative are essential. The ability to develop and apply new concepts, techniques and methods, as well as a creative approach to problem solving, and the ability to work independently and show initiative, are also essential.
