Job description:
POSTDOCTORAL POSITION
EXPERIMENTAL HIGH ENERGY PHYSICS
AT
THE COMPACT MUON SOLENOID
WITH THE
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, LOS ANGELES

We invite applications for a postdoctoral position at the University of California,  Los Angeles (UCLA). UCLA plays a leading role in the Compact Muon  Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the LHC in data analysis and in detector construction and operations.

The successful applicant will work in the research group of Profs. Robert Cousins, Jay Hauser and David Saltzberg.  The UCLA CMS group serves in leadership positions in the endcap muon detector system and its electronics.  The position will include development of trigger electronics for the new Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) muon detectors and will be initially based at UCLA.  The position would also include data analysis, especially in future years, and could optionally include relocation to CERN.

The group is looking for an outstanding applicant who has obtained, or is about to obtain, a Ph.D. in Experimental Particle Physics. Applicants should send a CV, a list of publications to which he or she made a specific contribution, and a brief statement of research interests to cmspostdocsearch@physics.ucla.edu .  Please arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to the same email address.

For full consideration, applications should be received by February 15, 2016. However, the search will remain open until the position is filled.

Women and minority candidates are urged to apply.  The University of California is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
