Job description:
RadiaSoft LLC invites applications for the position of Associate Research Scientist in our Boulder, Colorado office. The position involves use and development of Python wrapped C/C++ and Fortran codes for modeling X-ray optics, synchrotron radiation, laser pulses and particle accelerators. Approximately half of the duties for this position involve work with SRW (Synchrotron Radiation Workshop) and SHADOW, which are used to model synchrotron radiation in the X-ray regime, as well as X-ray optics at state-of-the-art light source facilities. We are developing a common Python interface for these and other related codes and assisting Brookhaven National Lab scientists in the development of new algorithms. The position also requires use of the particle accelerator code Synergia to simulate intense hadron beams in collaboration with Fermilab scientists and/or use of the electromagnetic PIC code Warp for modeling plasma-based acceleration of electrons in collaboration with Lawrence Berkeley Lab. The position requires presentation of work at conferences, publication in refereed journals and assistance in writing proposals for future funding.
Desired skills and experience
The successful applicant will have a PhD in physics or a closely related field, strong Python programming skills, and experience in modeling electromagnetic fields or charged particle dynamics. Other desirable skills and experience include: parallel computing and software development, particle accelerator design, free electron laser simulation, and EUV or X-ray optics modeling and design.
The application consists of a curriculum vitae, a one-page cover letter, and the names, phone numbers, and email addresses of three professional references. Applications can be sent to careers@radiasoft.net and will be accepted until the position has been filled.
