Job description:

The Experimental Particle Physics group at the University of Zurich invites applications for two postdoctoral positions to work on the CMS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. Our CMS group at UZH is engaged in data analysis in addition to major responsibilities in the construction of the phase I pixel detector, software developments, and operations of the CMS detector.  Exceptionally qualified applicants may be hired at the senior assistant level.  All positions are initially limited to three years with possibility of extension, subject to performance.  Senior assistant positions have the possibility of permanent extension.

Successful candidates are expected to lead the group's contributions in CMS physics analyses and help with the supervision of students. Candidates will also participate in the detector operation and upgrade efforts.  The successful candidate could be based at CERN or in Zurich, with regular travel foreseen to either location.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in experimental particle physics by the date of the appointment and have performed high quality, independent, particle physics research, with the ability to mentor students. Applicants should send a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, a statement of research interests, and arrange for at least two letters of recommendation to be sent to cms-jobs@physik.uzh.ch

Review of applications will begin in January 2015 and will be considered until the positions are filled. Complete applications will be considered immediately, for a starting date as early as March 2015.

Enquiries concerning the positions can be made to Prof. Florencia Canelli (canelli@physik.uzh.ch) and Prof. Ben Kilminster (ben.kilminster@physik.uzh.ch).
