Job description:
The University of California, Santa Cruz invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Scholar in the ATLAS Group at the Santa Cruz Institute for Particle Physics (SCIPP).
SCIPP is a member of the ATLAS Collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) facility at the CERN laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland. SCIPP has had a major role in the development and commissioning of the Semi-Conductor Tracker (SCT) and now in the design of the silicon pixel and strip detector upgrades for the HL-LHC. The group is active in searches for supersymmetry and exotic physics, as well as in Standard Model and Higgs boson measurements. The data analysis efforts leverage expertise in tracking, b-tagging, and the reconstruction of photons and leptons.
Under the mentorship of a faculty member, the successful job candidate will be expected to take a leading role in silicon detector development and physics analysis of Run 2 data from the ATLAS detector.
