Field of Interest:hep-ex, nucl-ex
Experiments:COMET, FNAL-E-0989, J-PARC g-2/EDM, CAPP
Deadline: 2016-03-01
Region: Asia
Job description:
The CAPP(Center for Axion and Precision Physics Research) group in IBS (Institute for Basic Science) in South Korea invites application for one non-tenure track post-doctorial researcher position, mainly for the research on COMET muon conversion experiment, with three years of initial contract with the possibility of two years extension depending on his/her performance. Candidate should be able to start his/her position from March 2016 at the earliest, and no later than May 1st, 2016, which is negotiable. Salary and benefit will be highly competitive.
A candidate is expected to work more than half of his/her full time effort in COMET experiment. Detailed project will be the development of trigger system and simulation study. S/he may choose to participate any other research activities in CAPP for his/her remaining full time efforts, which includes experimental Axion search; electric dipole moment search of charged particles; and muon g-2 experiments both in Fermilab and J-PARC. The candidate will be expected to travel for short or long term to KEK or J-PARC in Japan and any other collaborating institute.
A candidate will participate the physics result publication of Phase-I experiment of COMET, which is foreseen to be at 2019. Several technical publications on the background measurement of COMET Phase-I experiment are also foreseen. Participating in research project in CAPP will provide possible chance for publication and research accomplishment.
Ph.D within recent three years or Ph.D candidate with foreseen degree date no later than May 1st 2016 in experimental particle or nuclear physics is required. Experiences in HEP electronics system, electronics board design, FPGA programming and/or detector simulation with Geant4 is preferred. One will be highly qualified when having experiences on FPGA programming and/or simulation framework development.
Should you have interests, CV with research experiences and interests, and publication list including no more than 5 selected publication list should be sent to capp@ibs.re.kr, by March 1st, 2016. In addition, recommendation letters from at least three references should be arranged and sent to yannis@kaist.ac.kr .
CAPP is a research group in IBS in S. Korea, founded at 2013, for experimental Axion research. Around 20 PhD researchers are working, which is still increasing. We are also involved in various international precise measurement experiments, such as COMET at J-PARC, muon g-2 at FNAL and J-PARC, and EDM experiments. More information can be found at http://capp.ibs.re.kr/html/capp_en . IBS is national research institute mainly for basic science researches with ~30 research groups. More information can be found at http://www.ibs.re.kr/eng.do . CAPP is located inside KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) at Daejeon, Korea. CAPP/IBS is an equal opportunity employer. Korean citizenship is not required for application, and English is the common language spoken at the Center.
