Job description:

The Theoretical Particle Physics group in Siegen is inviting applications for PhD positions in Theoretical Particle Physics. These are half-time positions according to the German employment scheme (1/2 TVL 13) for the duration of 3 years. Applicants should hold a master's degree (Master of Science or equivalent) with a specialization in the field of theoretical particle physics.

The scientific actitivies in our group cover several theoretical and phenomenological aspects in flavour and collider physics. Among others, we are interested in heavy-quark physics, Higgs and electroweak physics, jet physics, physics beyond the Standard Model, higher-order calculations in QCD, QCD sum rules, effective field theories, Monte-Carlo event generators, and lepton-flavour violation.

For the benefit of the PhD students, we offer regular courses on advanced topics in particle physics, for instance,

- Effective Field Theories and the Renormalization Group;
- Quantum Chromodynamics;
- Calculational Tools for Multi-loop Calculations in Field Theory;
- Flavour Physics;
- Collider Physics;
- Supersymmetry and Grand Unification.

In addition, the participation of PhD students in international particle physics schools is encouraged and supported.

Applications can be sent anytime (preferably by email) to either of the principal investigators,
             Prof. Dr. Guido Bell,
Prof. Dr. Thorsten Feldmann,
Prof. Dr. Alexander Khodjamirian,
Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Kilian,
Prof. Dr. Thomas Mannel,
Dr. Tobias Huber,
Dr. Björn O. Lange,
Dr. Jan Piclum.

Address: Theoretische Physik 1, Universitaet Siegen, D-57068 Siegen (Germany)
Email: tp1phd@physik.uni-siegen.de

They should include a CV, a statement of research interests, and - if applicable - a list of publications.
Applicants should arrange for two reference letters to be sent to the same address as their application.
