Job description:
The CMS group of the RWTH Aachen University, Institute IIIB, has a vacancy for a Ph.D. position to work on the data analysis at the CERN Large Hadron Collider.
The activity of the group is focused on the study of final states with tau leptons. This includes gauge boson and Higgs boson decays into tau leptons to perform precision tests of the Standard Model and explore the electroweak symmetry breaking.

Your profile:

Diploma/Master degree in particle physics or equivalent qualification. Experience in data analysis in particle physics experiments, the ability to perform unique and outstanding research activities.

Your duties and responsibilities:

The successful applicant will be expected to make significant personal contributions to the data analysis of the experiment. This includes performing research work independently and supervising bachelor and master students.
The post is located at the RWTH University Aachen and will require frequent travel to CERN and other partner institutes to play a visible role in the physics analysis and report on progress in the research work in the university.

Our offer:

The position is initially limited to 3 years and to be filled a soon as possible.
This is a part-time position (50% of the standard weekly hours for full-time employees). The salary corresponds to level E13 TV-L. Medium term stays at CERN and the participation in international conferences will be supported.
