Deadline: 2018-05-01

Job description:
The position focuses on Quark-Gluon Plasma research with the ALICE experiment.

The work tasks are primarily research and teaching on basic and graduate levels, with at least 75 % research. The proportion between teaching and research can change over time and other duties can be included.

In the summer of 2018, the new 5 year project “CLASH: Pinning down the origin of collective effects in small collisional systems of quarks and gluons” will begin, which is a common investigation between experimentalists in the Division of Particle Physics (PI: Peter Christiansen) and theorists in the theoretical QCD phenomenology group (PI: Leif Lönnblad).

The main research task of the successful applicant is to lead and develop the experimental part of one of three topics in the new project. This means to develop experimental observables in small collisional systems that are either more sensitive to QGP-like effects or to jet energy loss and to conduct a systematic research program using these new observables. More information about the CLASH project can be obtained by contacting Peter Christiansen (peter.christiansen@hep.lu.se).

The education at the Physics department comprises physics courses on all levels, as well as supervision of Bachelor, Master and PhD students. Teaching duties in the position will be within the education program of the physics department.

Type of employment: Limit of tenure, 4 year, with the opportunity to promotion to senior lecturer.
