Postdoctoral Fellow – High Energy Physics

The Physics Department at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for a postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on the Belle and Belle II experiments at the KEK laboratory in Japan. The UC Belle group plays a leading role in Belle physics analysis (charm mixing/CP violation, measurement of α (φ2), B →VV decays, Bs physics), and the group played a major role in constructing the optics for the barrel particle identification detector of Belle II. We are now preparing for physics analysis on Belle II, which is scheduled to begin taking physics data in spring, 2018. We are seeking a Ph.D.-level physicist with a strong record of research in experimental particle physics. We are especially interested in individuals with experience in data analysis. The successful candidate will be stationed partially at the experiment and is expected to play a leading role in the Belle II detector commissioning, data analysis, and mentoring of students. The initial appointment will be for two years and is renewable, subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to play a leading role in a forefront high energy physics experiment.
