Job description:
Pending approval of funding the university will have aposition open for
research associate (Ph.D. position, wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in)
- salary group 13 TV-L - with a starting date of 1.5.2018 or as soon as possible thereafter, for working on a project within the program “Ground-based astrophysics and astroparticle physics” of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
The position calls for 19.5 hours per week. The short-term contract will end on 30.06.2020 (see also § 2, Abs.1 of the Academic Fixed-Term Contract Law (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz)) with the possibility of a prolongation to up to 3 years in total from the beginning of the contract.

Responsibilities:
A research associate’s duties include academic service for the above project. Outside of these tasks associates have the opportunity to further their academic education, in particular through the completion of a doctoral dissertation. Results obtained by the associate through project work may be used for the dissertation.
Area(s) of Responsibility:
research on the physics of air showers and propagation and origin of high energy cosmic radiation in the context of the Pierre Auger project, including development of analysis methods and use of numerical simulations.
Requirements:
Academic degree in one of the above academic subject areas qualifying the holder to carry out the above-mentioned responsibilities.
