Firmware Engineer (f/m)

DESY is one of the world’s leading research centres for photon science, particle and astroparticle physics as well as accelerator physics.

The electronics group at DESY / Zeuthen develops and builds components for the instrumentation of experiments in particle and astroparticle physics as well as in accelerator systems.

The Position

• Contribute to the development of FPGA based electronics for projects in astroparticle, particle and accelerator physics

• Development of software and firmware

• Design of hardware test setups

• Development of test and diagnostic modules

• Design, setup, test, and integration into existing systems

• Documentation and, where appropriate, publication and presentation of

  the work results

  Requirements

• Completed higher education in electronics or computer engineering or equivalent expertise, skills and experience

• Expertise of the FPGA programming language VHDL and/or

• Expertise in C and C ++ programming for RISC and microcontrollers, as

  well as soft core processors and/or

• Expertise in Linux kernel driver programming and/or

• Expertise of network protocols (UDP, TCP/IP) and/or

• Good knowledge of English. Knowledge of German is an asset

• Ability to work independently and creatively

• Readiness for teamwork, also within international cooperations
