Job description:

The University of California, Santa Cruz invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Scholar in the ATLAS Group at the Santa Cruz Institute for Particle Physics (SCIPP).

SCIPP (http://scipp.ucsc.edu/) is a member of the ATLAS Collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) facility at the CERN laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland. SCIPP has made a major contribution to the development, commissioning and operation of the Semi-Conductor Tracker, and now has significant roles in the design and prototyping of the pixel, strip, and high-granularity timing detector upgrades for the HL-LHC. The group is active in searches for supersymmetry and exotic physics, as well as in Standard Model and Higgs boson measurements. The data analysis efforts leverage expertise in tracking, b-tagging, and the reconstruction of photons and leptons.

Working at the UCSC campus under the mentorship of SCIPP faculty, the successful candidate will be expected to take a leading role in pixel detector development and physics analysis of data from the ATLAS detector.
