Field of Interest:hep-ex
Experiments:CERN-LHC-ATLAS
Deadline: 2018-03-15
Region: Europe
Job description:
The High Energy Physics Institute in Barcelona (IFAE-Barcelona) offers a Research Associate position to participate in its hadron collider experimental program using the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The initial duration of the position is 2 years but it may be extended by mutual agreement.
IFAE maintains a strong presence in the ATLAS experiment at CERN (Switzerland), with major responsibilities on the calibration and maintenance of the TileCal hadronic calorimeter and the High-Level Trigger system, and participates in IBL operations and the Pixel detector upgrade. The IFAE physics program in ATLAS covers a wide range of analyses spanning four working groups: Top Physics, Higgs Physics, SUSY and Exotics.
The successful candidate will be based at CERN, joining a competitive team of several PhD students, post-doctoral researchers, and staff scientists from IFAE. He/she will be expected to play a leading role in the research line focused on searches for Supersymmetry, extra-dimensions and dark matter candidates using the full Run 2 dataset, as well as in detector-related activities.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Experimental Particle Physics. They should provide a curriculum vitae, a brief description of research interests, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent by e-mail to: Martine Bosman (bosman@ifae.es) and Aurelio Juste (juste@ifae.es).
Applications will be reviewed starting on March 15th, 2018. However, applications will be accepted until the opening is filled.
