Electronics Engineer

(pay scale: E10 TV-L, full-time employment of 39.8 hours per week)

The position is funded according to the public salary scale E10 TV-L, and is to be filled as soon as possible. The institute is involved in various large-scale research projects, including the Upgrade for the ATLAS Experiment in the context of the High-Luminosity LHC.
 

Your tasks

• The upgrade of the Silicon Pixel Detector for the ATLAS experiment for the High-Luminosity LHC is currently in the development phase. Final design specifications will be decided upon imminently. In 2018, the construction phase of detector components, such as modules, cells, and longerons, of the pixel detector will begin. The Göttingen ATLAS group is currently engaged in the development of read-out systems and will be heavily involved in the production of detector components and tests of the silicon sensors. This will involve the development and production of high frequency multi-layer circuit boards equipped with modern FPGA-components (Virtex7 or newer). For this purpose, we are looking for a candidate that possesses expertise in the design of these circuit boards, who can carry out production, testing, quality control of these important components.

• Organisational and technical support for laboratory courses administered by the 2nd Institute and the Faculty of Physics, including the introductory laboratory physics course, the laboratory course for non-physics majors, and the electronics laboratory course.

• a completed Master‘s (or Diplom) degree specialising in electronics engineering or in a similar field

• Knowledge and expertise in electronics and development of FPGA-Firmware

• Software and programming skills

• proficient knowledge of the English language
