Experiments:CERN-LHC-ATLAS
Deadline: 2018-02-26
Region: Europe
Job description:
The Laboratory for High Energy Physics (LHEP) and Albert Einstein Center for Fundamental Physics at the University of Bern invite applications for a PhD student position in Experimental High-Energy Collider Physics
The position will be in the framework of the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. Our group has strong involvements in the search for new physics beyond the Standard Model and in the pixel detector upgrades for the HL-LHC. We are operating a Gridcomputing center (Tier-3 and Tier-2) for the analysis of ATLAS data in Bern.
Candidates for this position are expected to play an active role in the activities of our group, whichwill involve both hardware work and data analysis of collision data. He/She must have a completed Master’s degree (or equivalent) in physics and knowledge in the field of elementary particle physics. Experience with silicon detectors and/or readout electronics as well as knowledge of C++/object-oriented programming will be positively considered in the selection procedure.
The application material should include a letter of application, CV with publication list and the names and addresses of three references (no letters, these will be requested at a later stage).
Applications will be reviewed starting February 26th , 2018, and accepted until the position is filled.
