Job description:
The Institute of High Energy Physics of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna is a member of the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, the European laboratory for particle physics in Geneva. The Austrian group participates in the operation and development of the event selection system (”trigger“). This system filters out only the most interesting particle collisions from the millions occurring each second.
 
For our team of physicists, engineers and technicians we have a job opening, at the earliest possible date, for an
 
ELECTRONICS ENGINEER / IT ENGINEER / PHYSICIST (male/female)
 
Your areas of work:
  • Firmware and software development for the electronic trigger system of CMS
  • Participation in its operation, maintenance and further development
  • Participation in new trigger developments in the framework of the upgrade program „High-Luminosity LHC“
  • Team coordination
 
Your qualification:
  • Completed studies in electronics, physics, informatics or in a similar field at a University, a University of Applied Sciences or a polytechnical college
  • Programming skills (C++, Python, VHDL, ...)
  • Communication and teamwork abilities
  • Good knowledge of English

Employment conditions, duration of contract and salary:
The weekly work period is 40 hours, and the position is based in Vienna. The contract is initially limited to one year, but extension or conversion to a contract of unlimited duration is conditionally possible.
The salary grade and level will be determined according to the collective agreement of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, according to qualification and professional experience. The minimum gross salary is 2223 €/month (14 times per year).
