Job description:
The Department of Physics at Sam Houston State University (SHSU) invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in September 2018.  The targeted research backgrounds include astroparticle theory/phenomenology and cosmology.  Post-doctoral research experience is preferred.  The new faculty member will develop and lead a new research program, emphasizing inclusion of undergraduate physics students in the pursuit of basic science.  The new faculty member will have a heart for teaching, and a broad capacity to effectively instruct astronomy and physics at the introductory and advanced levels.  The new faculty member will complement and enhance existing professional strengths of the department, and work effectively with colleagues.  Specifically, this is to include research overlap and collaboration with the high energy theory group (Dent/Walker), as well as active development and advancement of a new minor with the astronomy faculty (James/Miller).

Sam Houston State University, located in Huntsville Texas, is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in the state, dating back to its 1879 charter for the training of teachers toward enhancement of the public education.
