Postdoctoral Position in Experimental High Energy Physics or Accelerator Physics at UC Davis
The experimental high energy physics group at the University of California, Davis invites applications for a postdoctoral research on the Mu2e Experiment, to be based at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. The responsibilities of this position include elements of both particle physics and accelerator physics, and the successful candidate must have an interest in both.
The Mu2e Experiment will search for the conversion to an electron of a muon that has been captured on an aluminum nucleus. This reaction is sensitive to a very broad range of physics beyond the Standard Model, and this experiment will have roughly 10,000 times the sensitivity of the previous best experiment.
This experiment has very specific and stringent specifications for proton beam delivery. Overseeing the construction and commissioning of the hardware required to meet these specifications, as well as the hardware to verify that they have been met, will be the primary responsibilities of this position; however, the successful candidate will also be expected to take an interest and active role in the physics goals of the experiment.
Candidates must have completed a PhD in High Energy Physics or Accelerator physics prior to beginning employment.
Interested candidates can apply by sending a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and statement of research interests and experience, all in PDF format, and arrange to have at least three letters of reference sent to:
Lynn Loftin Mayo
Department of Physics
