At the 2nd PhysicalInstitute of the Georg-August-UniversitätGöttingen, there is a job opening for a
senior scientist
with 100% regular weekly working hours (presently 39,8 hours per week). The position will initially be filled for a duration of 2 years. A permanent extension is foreseen provided that the chosen candidate demonstrates the necessary skills and qualification during this initial period.
The pay scale is determined according to the public service category TV-L 13.
Your tasks
Contributions to teaching according to§31NHG and exams, in particular organisation of the physics lab course for non-physics students as well as the electronics lab course.
Research in the development of semiconductor pixel detectors for particle physics detectors, in particular in the ATLAS-FIS upgrade project for the High-Luminosity LHC. Research focus is the organisation, operation, and analysis of testbeam campaigns, studies of sensor technologies as well as the assembly of pixel modules and longerons.
Your profile
a successfully completed university degree in physics or other relevant subject (Master of Science or equivalent)
exceptional and distinguished PhD in experimental particle physics
research experience in the development of pixel detectors for particle physics including expertise in testbeam campaigns and radiation-tolerant sensor technologies
experience in electronics
interest to work in the BMBF-FIS ATLAS project
skills in software development and programming
English language skills
teaching and publication experience
The working group is integrated and engaged in the German-wide collaborative research programme “BMBF-Verbundforschung ATLAS" and “Forschungsinfrastruktur - FIS“ for the LHC upgrade.
