The Theoretical Particle Physics group at the University ofSiegen is inviting applications for PhD positionsin Theoretical Particle Physics. Applicants should hold a master's degree (Master of Science or equivalent) with a specialization in the field of theoretical particle physics.
The scientific activities of the group cover a wide range of topics in flavour and collider physics such as heavy-quark physics, Higgs and electroweak physics, jet physics, top physics, effective field theories, higher-order QCD calculations, QCD sum rules, Monte-Carlo event generators and physics beyond the Standard Model.
For the benefit of the PhD students, the group offers regular courses on advanced topics in particle physics, for instance,
- Flavour Physics,
- Collider Physics,
- Higgs Physics,
- Effective Field Theories and the Renormalization Group,
- Tools for Multi-loop Calculations in Field Theory,
- Physics beyond the Standard Model.
In addition, the participation of PhD students in international particle physics schools is encouraged and supported.
The principal investigators of the group are:
Prof. Dr. Guido Bell,
Prof. Dr. Thorsten Feldmann,
Prof. Dr. Alexander Khodjamirian,
Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Kilian,
Prof. Dr. Thomas Mannel,
PD Dr. habil. Tobias Huber,
Dr. Oscar Cata,
Dr. Bjoern O. Lange,
Dr. Jan Piclum.
Applications can be sent anytime (preferably by email) to
Theoretische Physik 1, Universitaet Siegen, 57068 Siegen, Germany
Email: tpp-siegen.phd@uni-siegen.de
The applicants should provide a CV, a statement of research interests and – if applicable - a list of publications, and theyshould arrange for two reference letters to be sent to the same address.
The deadline for applications is January 31, 2018. Later applications will be considered as long as the positions havenot been filled.
