Experiments:CERN-LHC-LHCb
Deadline: 2018-02-28
Region: Europe
Job description:
The Centre de Physique des Particules de Marseille at Luminy (University of Aix-Marseille) has an opening for a PhD position in the LHCb experiment.
The starting date will be October 1 2018 and the duration will be 3 years.
The successful applicant will be expected to work on the search for physics beyond the Standard Model with the very rare decays of B_(s) mesons tau leptons in the final state. These are key channels to indirectly determine the new physics phase space and are still very unconstrained, because of the difficulty in reconstructing the tau leptons in a hadronic environment..
The CPPM group of approximately 15 researchers and engineers (currently 3 graduate students) has a strong involvement in the LHCb experiment, including the level 0 muon trigger and upgrade data acquisition system, as well as and several physics analysis topics in rare B decays and lepton flavor (universality) violation. The group has also strong ties to the local theory group at the Centre de Physique Theorique de Marseille
