The C.N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics at Stony Brook University seeks to hire postdoctoral researchers in theoretical physics with anticipated appointment dates of September 1, 2018.
Research fields at the Institute include but are not limited to particle theory including astroparticle theory, cosmology, quantum field theory, string theory, statistical mechanics, and quantum information theory. The Institute has a tradition of collaboration with the Departments of Physics and Astronomy and Mathematics, and strong connections to the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics.
Required Qualifications:
Fulfillment of all requirements for a Ph.D or foreign equivalent in theoretical physics or closely related field at the time of appointment.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will conduct research in the field of the Postdoctoral Associate's choice in theoretical physics, including but not limited to the areas listed above. The Postdoctoral Associate may collaborate with other members of the ITP working in the same field as well as in other research institutes, may present in seminars based on the Postdoctoral Associate's work during academic year. This position may include occasional travel to present research results or collaborate on institute-sponsored research and other duties aimed at professional development.
This is a full time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
