About Us

SNOLAB is an international facility for world-class underground physics research and has an expanding programme in astroparticle physics and underground science. Located in an air-conditioned clean room 2 km underground in the Vale Creighton Mine near Sudbury Ontario, with a suite of surface facilities and laboratories, SNOLAB is currently preparing for the next generation of experiments focusing on neutrino studies and the search for galactic dark matter.

The Position

Project Managers at SNOLAB will manage the planning and delivery of SNOLAB experiments in conjunction with experiment collaborations. The SNOLAB programme includes nuclear and astroparticle physics, development of the laboratory infrastructure, and research and development and planning for future underground experiments. Project Managers at SNOLAB are central figures in managing laboratory projects through the gateways of the Project Life Cycle Management process at SNOLAB.

The resources at SNOLAB include deep underground laboratories, surface laboratories, and engineering and technical staff.

Successful Project Managers at SNOLAB will require:
  • Professional project management processes to create and maintain budgets and resource loaded schedules;
  • Oral and written communication with scientists, SNOLAB management, SNOLAB Project Coordinators, engineers, technicians, and vendors to achieve quality oriented outcomes;
  • Ability to understand and manage risks to budgets, schedules, people, and equipment;
  • The ability to ensure equipment meets both scientific specifications and government regulations;
  • The ability to plan SNOLAB and external resources to deliver SNOLAB projects;
  • National and international travel as required.
Criteria

Education:
 
A B.Eng. or B.S. in a relevant engineering or science discipline is required.
 
Experience and Qualifications:

Experience as a project manager demonstrating an ability to lead project planning and delivery;

Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary project teams;

Experience with large scientific, technical, and/or international projects using formal earned value management is desired;

PMP and/or P.Eng. certifications are considered an asset for this position.

Salary Range

Salary will be determined by qualifications and experience and includes an attractive benefits package. Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with SNOLAB policies.
