Field of Interest:hep-ph, nucl-ex, nucl-th
Deadline: 2017-12-01
Region: South America
Job description:
The newly funded FAPESP topical collaboration on Hadronic Physics in High Energy Nuclear Collisions, composed of members from the high energy nuclear physics groups at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and the University of São Paulo (USP), invites applications for three postdoctoral FAPESP fellowships on phenomenological aspects of heavy ion collisions, broadly defined. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, theoretical and experimental aspects of: relativistic hydrodynamics and simulations, high-multiplicity proton-proton and proton-nucleus collisions, and hadronic cascade models.
One of the three positions will be located at USP under the supervision of Profs. Matthew Luzum and Jorge Noronha. The other two positions will be located at UNICAMP under the supervision of Profs. Jun Takahashi and David Chinellato, and may include work for the ALICE experiment.
FAPESP postdoctoral fellowships are for two years, extendable up to four years, and pay an annual tax-free salary of 86,000 Brazilian reais as well as 12,900 Brazilian reais/year for travel and research expenses. In addition, moving costs equal to 1 month's salary is included for those relocating more than 400 km.
Applications should include a CV (including a list of publications), research statement, and three letters of recommendation to be submitted by e-mail to Jun Takahashi <jun@ifi.unicamp.br>, Jorge Noronha <noronha@if.usp.br> and Matt Luzum <mluzum@usp.br>.
Review of applications will begin on December 1st and will continue until both positions have been filled. An interview through remote connection will be requested for some applicants.
The starting date for successful candidates is flexible, but is anticipated to be in August 2018 or earlier.
