Job description:
In connection with the new ERC Starting Grant "REINVENT" (Principal Investigator: Simone Alioli), the Department of Physics "G.Occhialini" at the Milan-Bicocca University, is expected to be able to fill up to three Postdoc positions and one Senior Postdoc position, to start indicatively in Fall 2018. Earlier starting dates are welcome and negotiable.
The research interests of the Theory Group at Milan-Bicocca & INFN cover a wide variety of subjects including Collider Phenomenology, Lattice QCD, String Theory, Statistical Physics, and Cosmology. There are currently 15 faculty members, 10 Postdocs, and 10 Ph.D. students. A total of 5/6 new postdocs and 3/4 new Ph.D. students are expected to join next Fall, making the research environment very dynamic. Close collaboration exists with the local CMS and LHCb experimental groups and with the Phenomenology group at the University of Milan.
In addition to their CV with the list of publications and three reference letters, applicants should supply a short research statement detailing their specific qualifications for the REINVENT ERC project and how they believe they could make a difference.

The main scientific focus of the project will be on Higher-Order calculations, Resummation and Monte Carlo event generation.
The Postdoc positions would be initially for two years, with the possibility of a third-year extension.
The Senior Postdoc position, which is reserved for more accomplished researchers with a clear record of independent research and achievements, will be for up to five years.

The salary range for the Postdoc positions is competitive with European standards (approximate salary 26-28 kEuro/year after taxes) and more attractive for the Senior Postdoc (34-36 kEuro/year after taxes).
A generous travel allowance is also foreseen.
