Job description:
Dear colleagues,
The Southampton High Energy Physics Group invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in lattice field theory and numerical simulation, starting from 1st October 2018 (or as soon as possible thereafter).
The successful applicant will join our wide-ranging programme in lattice QCD covering flavour physics, hadronic structure, algorithm development and also lattice QFT in conjunction with holography. We are part of the RBC-UKQCD Collaboration and work closely with colleagues from the UK, USA and Japan. The appointee will join us at a time when our collaboration will be exploiting newly-refreshed DiRAC supercomputing resources. The members of staff undertaking research in Lattice QCD are Professor Jonathan Flynn, Dr Andreas Jüttner and Professor Chris Sachrajda.
The remaining research interests of the group include: physics beyond the standard model, particle physics and cosmology, neutrino physics, b-quark and kaon phenomenology, exact renormalization group, extra-dimensional models of the weak interactions, weak interaction corrections at high energies, twistor methods, holography, strings and branes, and high density QCD. More information is accessible via our group's website https://www.hep.phys.soton.ac.uk .
The post is an STFC-funded research assistantship for two years, subject to review at the end of the first year. For informal enquiries, please contact Dr. Andreas Jüttner, juettner@soton.ac.uk, Tel: +44 (0)23 8059 7343.
You must apply through our online system https://www.jobs.soton.ac.uk/ quoting reference 932917WF if you wish to be considered. As supporting documentation please provide a CV and a statement of research interests and arrange for three letters of reference.
The deadline for applying is 15 December 2017.
