Job description:

The Institute for Theoretical Particle Physics and Cosmology (TTK) at the RWTH Aachen University invites applications for a postdoctoral position in Theoretical Particle and Astroparticle Physics. The appointment is initially for two years, starting in fall 2018, and may be extended for a third year subject to performance. The position comes with a competitive salary at the level E13 TVL and generous funds for travel and visitors.

Applicants should have previous experience at international level on topics related to the phenomenology of particle dark matter, such as searches for dark matter at the energy and intensity frontier, dark matter model building, or the impact of dark matter on early Universe cosmology. Applications from candidates with a strong interest in the reinterpretation of experimental data and the complementarity of different dark matter searches, as well as global fits, are particularly welcome.

The successful applicant will join the recently formed Emmy Noether Junior Research Group of Dr Felix Kahlhoefer, which currently comprises several PhD and master students and which will open a second post-doc position next year. Strong links exist with the other members of TTK (in particular Prof. Michael Kraemer, Prof. Julien Lesgourgues and Prof. Philipp Mertsch) and there will be many opportunities for collaboration with the experimental particle and astroparticle physics groups in Aachen (CMS, LHCb, Ice Cube, AMS, …). Further information can be found at http://www.physik.rwth-aachen.de/ca/f/fuiw/?lidx=1.

Applicants should provide a curriculum vitae, a list of publications and a brief description of their research interests (in a single pdf file). Applications should be sent to the email address ttkpostdoc@physik.rwth-aachen.de before 10 December 2017 (later applications will be considered until the position is filled). In the subject field, please include the words ‘dark matter 2017’ and your family name (e.g.: ‘Application dark matter 2017 Zwicky’). In addition, the applicant should arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to the same address.

The TTK and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) are actively committed to equal opportunity and seek to increase the number of women in research and teaching. Qualified female researchers are therefore strongly encouraged to apply.
