Job description:
The Institute of Experimental Particle Physics (ETP) invites applications for a
Postdoctoral Researcher
position (E13, TV-L) within the CMS group starting from January 1st, 2018, for an initial duration of 2 years. The maximum duration of the contract has to comply with the specifications of the “Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz”.

The activities of the CMS group of the institute comprise physics analyses, Grid computing, the upgrade of the strip tracker for the high-luminosity phase of the LHC and various R&D projects on silicon sensor development. The institute plans to contribute significantly to the development and construction of the new CMS tracker.

The successful applicant will play a leading role within the following activities related to the upgrade:
- Development or upgrade of test systems for the qualification of detector elements
- Development of a production chain for the assembly of detector modules
- Characterization of silicon sensors, especially concerning radiation hardness

The successful applicant may also contribute to the physics analysis projects of the CMS group in addition to his/her CMS upgrade duties.

This position offers the opportunity of developing your scientific carrier: there will be the possibility to participate in the lecture courses of the KIT Department of Physics as well as the opportunity for a Habilitation.
The supervision of Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. students is part of your duties.

Requirements:
- Ph.D. within the field of experimental particle physics
- Experience with silicon tracking detectors
