The Particle and Nuclear Theory Group, in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, at the University of Connecticut is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to work in the area of theoretical high energy nuclear physics. The theory group at UConn consists of Professors Tom Blum, Gerald Dunne, Luchang Jin, Alex Kovner, Philip Mannheim and Peter Schweitzer.
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct an independent theoretical research in the area of hadronic scattering at high energies, gluon saturation, heavy ion collision physics and related subjects, as well as actively collaborate with the members of the group on projects of mutual interest.
Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. (or equivalent foreign degree) in nuclear, particle, or high energy physics (or closely related field) before the anticipated start date. The successful candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills as demonstrated by scientific publications
in major refereed journals, conference presentations, etc., and a general knowledge of nuclear and particle physics.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience/expertise in the following areas: Physics of high energy hadronic collisions, gluon saturation, heavy ion collisions, high temperature/high density QCD and related subjects.
Appointment Terms: This position has an anticipated start date of September 1, 2018 and is for an initial duration of one year, renewable for an additional year (two years total), contingent on satisfactory performance, mutual agreement, and availability of funds.
