Job description:
FACULTY POSITION
THEORETICAL PARTICLE/NUCLEAR PHYSICS
UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS AT URBANA-CHAMPAIGN

The Department of Physics invites applications for one or more full-time tenure-track or tenured faculty positions in Theoretical Particle/Nuclear Physics, beginning as early as August 16, 2018. Areas of interest include nucleon or nuclear structure, lattice gauge theory, collider phenomenology, and model building. Appointment is expected at the Assistant Professor level, but appointment at a higher level will be considered for exceptionally well-qualified candidates. A Ph.D. or equivalent is required, along with the ability to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and to conduct a vigorous and significant research program.

The successful candidate is expected to interact with the high-energy theory group as well as the experimental high-energy group and/or the nuclear experimental group.  The interests of the theory group include flavor physics, lattice gauge theory, phenomenology of theories beyond the standard model, early universe cosmology, and gauge/gravity dualities while areas presently covered by the experimental groups comprise beyond-the-Standard-Model and heavy ion physics at the LHC, double beta decay and electric dipole moments, QCD/nucleon structure, muon g-2, mu2e, neutrino physics, and observational cosmology.
For full consideration, applications should be received by 30 October 2017. Please visit http://jobs.illinois.edu to view the complete position announcement and application instructions.

The University of Illinois conducts background checks on all job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer.
