Job description:
Carnegie Mellon University
Faculty Position in Experimental High Energy Physics

The Department of Physics at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) invites applications for a faculty position at the assistant professor level in experimental high energy physics. Other ranks may be considered for exceptional candidates. This is a tenure-track position in which the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Department's research program in particle physics, teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and contribute to the diversity and development of the physics department as a whole.

We seek candidates with expertise in collider physics to join the current effort on the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. We expect the successful applicant to significantly contribute to CMU's involvement in the CMS Phase2 upgrade for the High-Luminosity LHC, where CMU is setting up a module production center for the CMS high-granularity endcap calorimeter upgrade. Candidates also interested in exploring machine learning in particle physics through exploiting connections to CMU's School of Computer Science are especially welcome.

Applications should be submitted via https://apply.interfolio.com/43309 including a cover letter, curriculum vitae, publication list, and research plans as well as a brief teaching statement. Candidates should arrange for three letters of recommendation to also be uploaded. For full consideration, all materials should be received by December 1, 2017.
