Job description:
In connection with the new ERC project "Exceptional Quantum Gravity" (Principal
Investigator: Hermann Nicolai) we expect to be able to fill 2-3 postdoc positions, to
start any time in 2018. These positions would be initially for two years, with the
possibility of an extension, depending on performance. The main scientific focus of the
project will be on the following topics:
-- Applications of indefinite and especially hyperbolic Kac-Moody algebras
in quantum gravity and quantum supergravity
-- Involutory subalgebras of Kac--Moody algebras and their representation theory with
particular attention to fermionic representations
-- Exceptional geometry and exceptional field theory
-- Infinite dimensional duality symmetries and quantum cosmology
-- Effective actions and generalized automorphic forms
-- Exceptional symmetries and the unification of fundamental interactions
Applications must be submitted on-line via this form. The
application deadline is 1 Dec 2017. In addition to their CV with list of publications
and three reference letters, applicants should supply a short research statement detailing
their specific qualifications for this particular ERC project.
