Job description:
Located on the South Campus of the University of British Columbia, TRIUMF is Canada's national laboratory for particle and nuclear physics and accelerator based sciences. We are an international centre for discovery and innovation, advancing fundamental, applied, and interdisciplinary research for science, medicine, and business. We are as diverse in our areas of expertise, people, and cultures, as we are in our career opportunities, and we are constantly seeking dynamic individuals who thrive on creativity and excellence.
The TRIUMF Molecular and Materials Science research program focuses on new material, quantum materials, and molecular studies. TRIUMF is a leader in studies of magnetism, superconductivity, semiconductors and semi-metals, quantum diffusion, molecular bonding states, quantum materials, and fundamental and complex chemical reactions using muon spin rotation μSR and β-NMR with spin-polarized isotopes.
The TRIUMF Physical Sciences Division is seeking a Research Scientist for the Material and Molecular Sciences Department to lead research, including the development and support of mSR and βNMR experiments and infrastructure. The mSR program was recently upgraded with experimental infrastructure (\$7M) by the Canada Foundation of Innovation (CFI) and its provincial partners and has leading edge research capabilities. Moreover, Canada’s Advanced Rare Isotope Laboratory (ARIEL) which was funded through CFI (\$120M) will triple the current science capabilities with isotopes at TRIUMF in the near future.
The successful applicant will lead and initiate independent, self-directed research. In addition to the above, she/he will also:
Qualifications include:
