Job description:

The CP3 offers an excellent research environment, a friendly work atmosphere and opportunities to collaborate with scientists at many other universities in Belgium and abroad. Theoretical research directions include Cosmology and General Relativity, Data analysis in HEP experiments, Phenomenology of elementary particles and Theories of the fundamental interactions. In addition, there are excellent opportunities to interact with experimentalists. The experimental collaborations represented at CP3 include both, particle physics (CMS, NA62 and others) and observational cosmology (Plack, COrE).
The successful candidate will primarily work with Marco Drewes, who will join the institute in September 2017. The candidate should indicate an interest in one or several of the following topics
neutrino masses as a "portal" to New Physics
leptogenesis/baryogenesis
experimental searches for heavy neutral leptons and other long lived particles
thermal and non-thermal Dark Matter production in the early universe
scalar fields in the early universe
nonequilibrium quantum field theory
Candidates should have obtained a Master in Physics (or equivalent) by the starting date. Preference will be given to candidates with prior knowledge in theoretical physics and quantum field theory. Members of underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply.
The salary will be covered by a "Bourse de doctorat" for the first 24 months and by local funding afterwards. The starting date is flexible.
To apply, please send an email with subject "Application for a PhD position in theoretical physics" to particlecosmology@res-publica.
Please address any questions regarding the position or the application process to marco.drewes@uclouvain.be .
