Job description:
The heavy ion research group at the Weizmann Institute of Science is seeking a postdoc with strong background in GEMs detectors. It's an excellent opportunity for somebody motivated and ambitious to get involved in construction of a real detector that is planned to start taking data in 2022. 
 
The candidate has to assume the leading role in the construction of the multilayer GEM-based readout modules for the fast compact TPC of the sPHENIX experiment at RHIC. The candidate will contribute to all stages of the process: design, prototyping, production, quality control, commissioning of the TPC and all way through towards reading the data and working out "in situ" calibration technique. Besides that the candidate will be offered to conduct her/his own smaller scale R&D research with GEMs and to train students.
 
position is intended for 3+ years and starts before the end of 2017.
