Job description:
The Physics Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory invites outstanding applicants for postdoctoral positions in the High Energy Nuclear Physics team of the Subatomic Physics Group (P-25) to work on Seaquest with a polarized target (E1039). P-25 is the lead institution on experiment E1039 that will measure the Sivers function of the seaquarks using the Main Injector. The successful applicant will acquire the skills needed to take a leading role in working on all aspects of the E1039 polarized target and the physics analysis. The candidate must have or expect to complete soon a Ph.D. in physics, preferably in high energy nuclear or particle physics, and it must be less than 5 years since the Ph.D. was granted. The postdoctoral term is for 2 years, with an option to renew for a third year. Potential candidates should submit a resume, a brief description of research interests and accomplishments, plus three letters of reference to Dr. Andi Klein (aklein@lanl.gov). Details about the LANL post-doctoral program can be found at:
Desired Skills
· Experience with physics analysis and detector technologies commonly used in nuclear and particle physics experiments.
· Experience with slow controls like EPICS or Labview.
Education
A Ph.D. or equivalent experience in high-energy Nuclear or Particle Physics within the past five years or soon to be completed is required.
Notes to Applicants
For full consideration, applicants should submit a comprehensive resume, a cover letter describing their qualifications with respect to all required and desired skills, and three references.
Positions do not require a security clearance. Candidates may be considered for a Director's Fellowship and exceptional candidates may be considered for the prestigious Marie Curie, Richard P. Feynman, J. Robert Oppenheimer, or Frederick Reines Fellowships. Los Alamos National Laboratory is an equal opportunity employer and supports a diverse and inclusive workforce.
