Job description:
The Universidad Central de Chile is calling for applications to fill up one postdoctoral position devoted to the study of Modified Gravity Theories and their compact object and cosmological solutions. The position is for (1+1+1) years and is going to be funded by the Chilean funding agency FONDECYT (www.fondecyt.cl) through its postdoctoral initiative.
Applicants must have obtained a PhD in Physics at the time of the application and should demonstrate abilities to conduct their own research as well as collaborating skills.
The shortlisted candidate will be required to apply for the FONDECYT postdoctoral grant sponsored by Dr. Adolfo Cisterna, member of the recently created Gravity group by the end of August 2017. Please open the link below to see deadlines and the bases of the contest.
The group has already strong collaborations with two major groups in Chile: The Gravity group of Universidad de Concepción where Dr. Julio Oliva is a senior member and the High Energy Physics group at Universidad Nacional Andrés Bello where Dr. Rodrigo Olea is one of the most active senior researchers.
Moreover, Universidad Central de Chile, through its new research policies is expecting to expand all its research groups, including the Gravity group hiring new Scientists of excellence.
The monthly salary is US\$ 2700 (approximately) plus to a yearly travel allowance of US\$ 6800. Relocation funds up to US\$ 4500 are also included.
Candidates are requested to send a 4 pages statement of research, CV including a list of publications and two letters of recommendation to adolfo.cisterna@ucentral.cl. The call will be closed this August first and the selected applicant will be immediately notified.
