The Center for Space Research of North-West University is looking for a postdoctoral research fellow in astrophysics or cosmology.
The fellowship holder will be based in the Department of Physics in Mafikeng and will conduct research in theoretical cosmology or stellar astrophysics. Individuals who have achieved the doctoral degree within the past 5 years, and who have not previously held professional or academic positions, are eligible to apply. The fellowship position is tenable for 1 year starting in September with the possibility of renewal twice. The value of the fellowship is R178,500 per annum, with the possibility of top-ups depending on the availability of funds. A maximum of R20,000 a year will also be made available as a contribution towards running expenses. A once-off relocation cost to a maximum of R20,000 will be provided for the successful candidate.

The Astronomy/Cosmology group in Mafikeng consist of 5 staff members and numerous postgraduate students. Our research focus is on stellar pulsations and theoretical cosmology/modified gravity. We make use of observing facility at the South African Astronomical Observatory.
