Job description:
The Physics Institute of the University of Heidelberg invites applications for 2 Doctoral Students for ATLAS Analysis and Upgrade
The Physics Institute of the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy in Heidelberg is involved in several LHC experiments (ALICE, ATLAS, LHCb) and smaller scale experiments like Mu3e. The Institute offers an exciting research program in particle physics.

The main research fields of the ATLAS group is Standard Model physics and searches for New Physics by exploiting boosted object tagging techniques. The ATLAS group is looking for two talented PhD students. for ATLAS Analysis and Upgrade who have strong analysis skills and are highly motivated to contribute to simulation studies and hardware projects in the context of the ATLAS detector upgrades. The PhD candidates are expected to participate either in the commissioning of the Fast Tracker (FTK) upgrade project or in the development of monolithic CMOS detectors for the ATLAS phase II upgrade.

Starting date: latest October 1st, 2017

Requirements: Master or equivalent degree in experimental particle physics or closely related fields. Candidates should be highly motivated, interested in physics at the high energy frontier, and are expected to have very good computing and analysis skills.

Applications including a curriculum vitae, list of publications, copies of transcripts and certificates, and names of at least two potential referees should be sent electronically to

André Schöning   email: schoning@physi.uni-heidelberg.de
