Job description:
The newly founded research group Theory of Quantum Optics within the Synqs collaboration at Heidelberg is searching for PhD students. The main research topics will focus on
The positions will be embedded into the vibrant research environment of the Synthetic Quantum Systems effort at the Kirchhoff-Institute for Physics, the Institute for Theoretical Physics, as well as the recently started German Collaborative Research Center SFB 1225 ISOQUANT. The research will be carried out in collaboration with leading experimental and theoretical groups.
Successful candidates are expected to have a solid background in one or more of the following:
lattice gauge theories, theoretical quantum optics, quantum information and entanglement theory, condensed-matter theory, quantum many-body physics.
The position is for three years (E13/2) with starting date as soon as possible.

- Realization of gauge theories in cold atomic gases and trapped ions
- Design of protocols for measuring entanglement in cold quantum gases
- Quantum many-body systems (non-equilibrium dynamics, exotic quantum phases, characterization through entanglement)
