Job description:

The University of Stavanger invites applications for a 3-year position as Postdoctoral Fellow in theoretical physics at the Faculty of Science and Technology. The position is vacant from 01.09.2017 or by appointment.

The position is co-funded by the University Fund and the University of Stavanger within the project “Spontaneous breaking of spacetime symmetries: Emergent order in quantum matter.” The successful candidate will work in the project team, led by Tomas Brauner, which is a part of the (astro)particle physics/cosmology environment at the University, currently including Per Amund Amundsen, Tomas Brauner, Henning Knutsen, Aleksi Kurkela (on leave at CERN) and Anders Tranberg, plus several postdocs and PhD students.

The appointee is expected to contribute actively to the aims of the project, which focuses on a range of problems related by spontaneous symmetry breaking, including the properties of scattering amplitudes of Nambu-Goldstone bosons, inhomogeneous phases in the phase diagram of QCD and QCD-like theories, and development of effective field theory tools for systems with broken spacetime symmetries from high-energy to condensed-matter physics.

To apply, follow the below-given link to the JobbNorge portal. The applicants are requested to arrange for at least two letters of recommendation on their behalf to be sent directly to Tomas Brauner.
