Job description:
The RWTH Aachen University, III Institute B, invites for applications for a
Ph.D. position in experimental particle Physics

The RWTH Aachen University, III Institute B, is involved in the CMS experiment at CERN and in the neutrino
experiments IceCube at the south pole, Double-Chooz in France, T2K in Japan and JUNO in China.
The CMS group is active and experienced in detector development and data analysis. The current analyses are focused on the study of final states with tau leptons. This includes gauge boson and Higgs boson decays into tau leptons to perform precision tests of the Standard Model and explore the electroweak symmetry breaking.

Your profile: Master degree in particle physics or equivalent qualification. Experience in detector development or data analysis in particle physics experiments and the ability to perform unique and outstanding research activities.

Your duties and responsibilities: The successful applicants will be expected to make significant personal contributions to the research program of the group, work independently and supervise bachelor and master students. In addition, taking over of teaching responsibilities will be part of the program. 
The posts are located at the RWTH Aachen University and will require frequent travel to CERN and other partner institutes to play a visible role in the physics analysis.The position will give an excellent chance for further academic qualification

Our offer:The position is initially limited to 2 years and can be prolonged by another year. The period of employment is governed by paragraph 2 Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz-WissZeitVG). 
Ph.D. students are remunerated according to 50% of the salary groups E13 TV-L.
